What a time to be a diaper lover. With the flood gates open on positional printing, all the major ABDL brands have incorporated it into their lineups, as well as some newcomers with their own unique takes. Add a cloth backing on some of them and you have really really good replicas of baby diapers, something many of us have dreamed about.
A quick roll call of the recent cloth backed positional printed diapers:
ABU started us off with their Little Kings and Alphagatorz
Tykables came in with their Animooz, a hybrid plastic + cloth backing, and seems will use the same backing for their upcoming Potty Monsters and Purrfect Cafe
PretendAgain seems to have used the Animooz template to make their own TryAgains design
Lil Comforts has their Comfy Cubz
Kiddo brand, now available in the US, has the 2-tape Teddy Ultra
LittleForBig just released their Baby Parades
Not to mention the numerous other positional prints that brands have made that are plastic-backed. But we basically know how these plastic-backed diapers perform, they're the same base as other diapers in the brands' lineups just with a new print. These cloth-backed new prints can vary in performance especially because of the different ways of adding the cloth like cover, with a thinner plastic base or full thickness base; and since there are new names in the mix that we haven't tried other diapers from before.
Someone on Reddit made this post, I was wondering if anyone here has done a similar comparison of all the different cloth backed diapers, or at least some of them.
They said they like the TryAgains the best for quality. And then they have the Baby Parade and Teddys as their next favorites, in that order. Tykables are basically like TryAgains but they didn't like the designs as much. Comfy Cubs had problems with the tapes and were generally middle of the road. Little Kings were the worst in terms of performance, the only one they experienced seepage out of the lot, which is sad because of the cute design and how soft they are.
Anyone have their own thoughts/experiences?

They’re pretty breathable, but the one drawback to this is that it has bad odor control. I was almost outed because of this.

See, that's something that might be different with some of the new generation of cloth-backed diapers. They've started using a full-thickness plastic layer instead of thinning it under the cloth cover, so you get the moisture and odor protection of plastic-backed, but the outside softness of cloth.

I have generally preferred plastic backed diapers until I wore Try Agains for the 1st time. I found wearing a Little Kings or North Shore cloth backed diaper disappointing due to a lack of odor control and an overall damp feeling after a few wettings.
I recently wore an LFB Baby Parade and loved the print and performance! Try Agains and Baby Parade diapers have solved the dampness and odor issues in a cloth backed diaper.
I haven’t worn the other cloth backed diapers mentioned, but I love these two new diapers and they are in my top 5 of all diapers I wear, cloth or plastic.

I prefer cloth backed myself. I haven't tried the thicker plastic cloth backed variants yet though. I worry that they might lose breathability. Poor odor control is likely a nearly unavoidable tradeoff of better breathability. That's just a guess though; I'm no diaper engineer, although it would be cool if I was one.

That's interesting that LFB has made a better cloth-backed diaper than ABU, I thought their diapers were generally a little lower in quality compared to the other ABDL brands. ABU really hit it out of the park with their Little Kings and Alphagatorz designs, but seepage is such a big problem for them. I wonder if the overall softness is so important to them that that's the compromise.

I actually like that, when full, my ABU Little Kings start weeping slightly.
I have always worn plastic pants over my disposables (for aesthetic reasons) and I enjoy the fact that they are always a little damp by the time I’m changed.
As a lifetime lover of plastic backed disposables I really appreciate how soft the Little Kings are and whilst no quite as comfortable, Animooz are also fun to wear

I recently got to try out the Teddy Ultra’s and they are pretty awesome! Just the waistband is way too big in the back for whatever reason? Pretty snug fit after doing some adjustments. I wasn’t really planning on getting ahold of the baby parades but now I’m pretty interested. Shame the cozie cubs aren’t as good with the tapes as they look. The design is super cute on those.
I love seeing all these cloth backed options showing up. I feel like I’m finally getting all the diapers I’ve wanted

It's really great that cloth backs are finally blooming in the market

I don't think "middle of the road" (or as the Reddit OP put it, "decent") automatically means bad! You could very well have a different experience The only way to know is if you buy a pack to try! You might love them.

Not enough! There are too many great-looking choices, and I'm slow. (I don't mind being spoiled for choice though.)
As of now, Little Kings are my favorites, but I gave in to my temptation and ordered a bag of TryAgains only a few minutes ago. I have a feeling I'll wish I ordered a case, but I've got no room. I'd promised myself I was going to wait a while before ordering more diapers, so I'm already being "bad," heh.
Can't wait to try the Kiddo Teddy too.

I'm looking forward to comparing the feel of TryAgains and Little Kings. Little Kings are soooo soft and light. I'm willing to forgive some of the sag because they just feel so nice. I hope the TryAgains are in the same ballpark. (I understand that the latest batch of Little Kings is supposed to be less saggy, but I'm still working through the ones I bought in August.)
