College football recruiting team rankings for 2024 class (3)

Football Recruiting Rankings as of Dec. 20. National Signing Day is Feb. 7, 2024

10. Notre Dame (23 commits). Marcus Freeman got the Fighting Irish off to a quick start on the 2024 trail, signing two important skill players: quarterback CJ Carr, the No. 5 ranked player at his position and a top 40 player overall with qualified arm strength and the mobility to extend plays in the pocket; and wide receiver Cam Williams, a four-star pass catcher who stands at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds who can gain separation from defensive backs get yards after the catch.

9. Oklahoma (28 commits). The class of Brent Venables' 2024 recruiting haul remains five-star defensive lineman David Stone, an integral building block in the coach's defensive plans going forward. The No. 5 ranked player at the position, Stone is a menace in the middle of the formation with an explosive first-step who can generate consistent pressure on the quarterback from the interior and limit rushing gains. Four-star tailback Taylor Tatum is ranked as the No. 1 rusher on the 247 board, and No. 20 ranked wide receiver Zion Kearney is a natural deep threat with track speed, scoring eight touchdowns off 39 grabs as a junior.

8. Auburn (20 commits). Quite a late push for head coach Hugh Freeze heading into his second season, thanks principally to a pair of elite, in-state 5-star wide receivers: Cam Coleman, the consensus No. 2 pass catcher from Phenix City, and Perry Thompson, a top-30 overall prospect and top-10 wideout from Foley. Key defensive pickups include No. 4 linebacker Demarcus Riddick and No. 9 edge rusher Joseph Phillips, a total of four of the 10 best players from the state.

7. Miami (27 commits). Moving the ball and getting to the quarterback are areas of need for the Hurricanes, which improved in that area mostly by flipping 5-star defensive lineman Justin Scott from Ohio State, the consensus No. 2 player at his position this cycle, and by earning the pledge of wide receiver Ny Carr, a top-15 player nationally at the position and a consensus four-star prospect. Edge rusher Armondo Blount was a notable pickup, a five-star at the position and top-10 nationally who the Canes flipped from rival Florida State.

6. Oregon (24 commits). Dan Lanning appears on track to sign a second-straight top-10 ranked recruiting class in 2024, with one of its top prospects signing recently as the Ducks secured five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland, the No. 8 consensus player at the position. Key defensive pickups also include No. 7 ranked safety Aaron Flowers, and cornerbacks Ify Obidegwu and Dakoda Fields, both coming in at top 25 at the position.

5. Florida State (26 commits). Mike Norvell teams usually run the ball with authority and he built on that capacity by adding Kam Davis, the No. 7 tailback on the 247 Composite at over 200 pounds and a low center of gravity that makes it hard for tacklers to bring him down. Landen Thomas, a top 10 tight end and five-star prospect, flipped from Georgia to the Seminoles in a major get. Charles Lester is a top-five cornerback in the class with a fluid style of movement and experience playing wideout and wildcat quarterback. Five-star safety/athlete KJ Bolden is the Noles' top pickup, beating out Georgia in their backyard for the player ranked No. 13 overall and the No. 1 safety in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports Composite.

4. Texas (21 commits). After leading the Longhorns to a Big 12 title and College Football Playoff appearance, Steve Sarkisian has parlayed that success into recruiting gains. In addition to flipping one-time Florida commit five-star Xavier Filsaime, an elite coverage safety named a 5-star prospect by 247, the Horns picked up 5-star edge rusher Colin Simmons, the consensus No. 2 player at the position from in-state, national No. 4 wide receiver Ryan Wingo, and second-ranked offensive tackle Brandon Baker to help lead the program into the SEC.

3. Ohio State (21 commits). Once again, the Buckeyes are loaded at wide receiver, securing the pledge of two critical five-star pass catchers: Jeremiah Smith, the consensus No. 1 wideout in the nation and a top 10 recruit nationally, and Mylan Graham, the No. 6 receiver on the 247 Composite and a top 20 player overall. Four-star quarterback Air Noland is the No. 5 signal caller in the 2024 recruiting class standing over 6-2 with a remarkable 73% accuracy a year ago, emerging as a highly-capable distributor who can evade a pass rush with strategic agility. Eddrick Houston, who ranks as the No. 31 overall player and No. 4 player at his position, recording 10 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries as a junior.

2. Alabama (25 commits). An elite group for the Crimson Tide's 2024 haul, including quarterback Julian Sayin, the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the nation, a unanimous five-star prospect on all the services, and the top prospect from California. Alabama's No. 4 in-state player, cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe is a consensus top-five at the position and top 20 overall prospect, boasting elite coverage skills and speed, pledging to the Tide last July. Four-star pickups in No. 3 ranked cornerback Zabien Brown and No. 4 tight end Caleb Odom bolster this class, as especially does the addition of defensive back Peyton Woodyard, a flip from Georgia who is the No. 23 ranked safety in the nation, according to 247Sports, and a five-star per Rivals, with elite coverage skills in space and against the run.

1. Georgia (28 commits). College football's back-to-back national champions got an early start on defense by adding No. 1 ranked cornerback Ellis Robinson, a consensus top-5 player at any position and confirmed ball-hawk with length and elite movement skills in coverage. Five-star linebacker Justin Williams is an important addition, bringing a rare brand of intensity and can play in the box or off the edge with equal results. But the Bulldogs also pulled off a major coup by getting 5-star safety KJ Bolden to flip from the Seminoles on early signing day.
